to selected individuals with
developmental disabilities
who may not receive any gifts.
In addition to cash dona-
tions to buy, wrap and deliver

fundraising quilt drawing.

Plumas County Sheriff's
Needy Children's Christmas
This Sheriffs Employees
Association program pro-
vides toys, food and coats for
children and families. The
need for toys is particularly
• acute this year. In addition,
the association supports chil.
dren's programs year-round,
such as Little League; Boys
State, dance team, swim team,
football and basketball.
Drop off food and new, un-
wrapped toys at any of the fol-
lowing locations:
Main office, 1400 E. Main
St., Quincy; Portola Substa-
tion, 324 S. Gulling;
Greenville Substation, High-
way 89; Chester Substation,
First and Willow.

CHESTER
Almanor Basin Community
Resource Center
The center has reached its
capacity at 50 holiday food bas-
kets. There is a specific need
for cash donations, as well as
nonperishable foods such as
canned vegetables, cranberry
sauce, stuffing and potatoes.
Deliver food or cash dona-
tions to 372 Main St. For more

Elks Lodge 2626 Christmas
Angel Project
This program provides for
families in Chester, West-
wood and Greenville. The
Elks are accepting nonperish-
able and canned food at David
Price Jewelers, 216 Main St.
Mail checks, no cash,
payable to Elks No. 2626, to
3760 Woedlake Drive, Lake
Almanor, CA 96137.

Helping Hands Food
Pantry
The pantry needs nonper-
ishable food and cash dona-
tions. Deliver donations to
the pantry at the back of the
Wesleyan Church on the cor-
ner of Melissa and Gay
streets. Open Monday,
Wednesday and Friday 1 - 3
p.m. year-round, pantry
hours will change during the

Angel trees
Christmas trees are going up
at Indian Valley businesses and
organizations. They are decorat-
ed with paper angels, on which
folks have provided information
about needy children: age, gen-
der, sizes, favorite color and
Christmas wishes. Return un-
wrapped gifts to the address indi-
cated on the back of the angel
with the angel attached no later
than Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Community Assistance
Network (CAN)
Sign up for food baskets in
Quincy, Meadow Valley,
Cromberg and the Feather Riv-
er Canyon through CAN at the
sheriffs office in Quincy or at
Plumas Crisis Intervention and
Resource Center, 591 Main St.
Distribution is Thursday and
Friday, Dec. 22 and 28, 9 a.m. - 5
p.m. at CAN, 176 Lawrence St.
Safeway is also running its
"Help Us End Hunger (Every
Bag Counts)" campaign. Cus-
tomers buy a Hunger bag
filled with nonperishable gro-
cery items for $10 at the.check-
out and place it in the food dri-
ve barrel. All of the bags are
going directly to CAN.
To donate food, look for
boxes at Quincy businesses,
including Feather Publishing.

PORTOLA AND SIERRA
VALLEY
Angel Tree, Sierra County
Holiday Planners and
Terry's Toys for Tots
These groups provide food
baskets, new clothing and new
toys to children for Christmas.
They also accept gently used
clothing and toys. They espe-
cially need teen items, ages 13
- 17. For more information,

struggling to keep up with de-
mand in addition to creating hol-
iday baskets for area residents. It

Electric Cooperative
The local energy provider is
assisting local charities with
toy, food and clothing drives
for the upcoming holidays.
A Mitten Tree will be avail-
able to decorate with "warm"
ornaments from employees
and the public. Mittens, hats,
coats, snow boots, socks and
scarves are welcome.
Help spread the warmth by
dropping off items at PSREC's
office, 73233 Highway 70.

Plumas Crisis Intervention Holiday Helping Hands
and Resource Center
PCIRC has coats for all ages;
simply go to the center at 591
W. Main St. in Quincy Mon-
day through Friday, 9 a.m. - 5
p.m. and choose a coat.
Plumas Bank and Bank of
America in downtown Quin-
cy, as well as the center itself,
are accepting coat donations.
The program runs through
mid-January.
The center is also working
with the Plumas County Sher-
iffs Employees Association
and Social Services to help
families in need.
Cash donations are also wel-
come and help support the
Homeless Family Transitional
Housing program. To donate or
"adopt" a family, call 283-5515.
Warm donations
The Wool Room, at Jackson
and Harbison streets, is accept-
ing donations of handmade knit-
ted or crocheted caps. Owner
