Only 4 shopping days till Christmas!
Don't panic, here'syour guide to last-minute gifts
This holiday season I've. been shopping locally. Instead of an exhaust-
ing day braving box-store crowds and a long drive to Reno, feeling the
pressure to cram it all in at once, I can visit shops throughout the week
during my lunch break and after work.
A surprising range of items and services is available right here in
Plumas County, from laugh-out-loud greeting cards to Christmas
light bulbs, edible goodies to custom T-shirts, books and
games to dog treats and work boots, video rentals to
fine dining, professional art supplies to limitless
thrift store bargains. Decorated gift certifi-
cates and beautiful wrapping are added
bonuses. And the customer service
I have experienced locally this
year has been, without ex-
ception, outstanding.
Sometimes it takes
a few trips: one
to see if
prices will fit my budget, another to try something on, etc. But whether.
or not I have purchased something that day, employees and owners have
been unfailingly courteous, professional and knowledgeable.
They patiently listen to questions, offer honest advice and often make
recommendations that lead to unexpected finds. What they don't have
in stock they offer to special-order, and they are also never pushy.
Box store staff can't hold a candle to this!
Thank you, local business owners, managers
and employees, for maintaining top-quality
unique selections and services and for
creating an atmosphere that makes
shopping a pleasure instead of a
chore. I recommend the local
shopping experience to
everyone.
