T:e Holler r'eports a recent
discovery of copper ore on the

have about 13 miles due east of
Forest ant, about 12 miles south-
.,at of Downieville, They have
?() acres in the claims and said
they were following a prospect of
canary yellow gold, indicating sil-
ver, when they found the copper
ore.
Their investigation showed it
was at least 60 feet wide. They
cut in eight feet, six feet deep
and found the ore remained the
same. Assay shows the sample
taken to be low grade, but it
contains '¢ires" of high grade
copper. They plan to make fur-
ther exploration in the spring to
determine the depth and length
e the ore.
In Mineral Information Service
i::ued by the Division of Mines
June 1, 1951, it lists copper in
,<ierra County as production in
he past, deposits now idle. With
:ufficient capital for exploration
:.:.l development, during this
veriod of war need for copper as
n trategic metal, possibly copper
()re might be found in Sierra
County in quantities worthy of
production.

ONE MAN'S OPINION
"We are all building . : . won-
derful mee of ingress to and
egress from the central and urban
areas which simply means that we
are developing easier and easier
means of escape.
"They are roads from, not to.
because people come to town for
reasons of necessity and leave it
as fast as they can. This is really
the greatest challenge that we've
got in this country."
--William Zeckendorf
