AS WE SEE .IT'--
Had a rare trip last weekend
when, in company with the Stan-
darts, we enjoyed the hospitality
of "Tuffy" and Mary Lawrence
at their lovely ranch home near
Vatlejo. The novelty of television
kept us up until a late hour. and
the temptation to stay and see the
big game there almost offset the
threat of having to unload a trucl-
load of hay but not quite. Went
and saw Olivia de Havilland and
Sonja Henie instead. Evidently,
now that the race for mayor is
over and subsided, San Francisco
is again enjoying good weather
---or did over the weekend. All
were glad to get home again,
however.
Ken Hunter was the misinfor-
mant to the effect last week that
Carl and Betty Paulsen were go-
ing to {he big game. We now
have him on our "unreliable" list.
Some folks seem to wonder why
we don't call and verify all the
information we get--we wonder if
they've ever tried making 100 cr
more telephone calls here on a
Wednesday--in spare moments.
Production is reported to be up
and overhead down at the Alman-
or Lumber mill. according to Stan
1Wagler, who says that Randall
Goldenson is being laid off this
week on an experimental basis.
Marie Riiea helped out at the
post office yesterday while Lois
Wiley took the day off to make
a business trip to aerie. The mail
distribution was slightly late.
With Father Corcoran and the
Altar Society as hosts, a large
and successful turkey banquet
was enjoyed by more than 70 peo-
ple at the Masonic Hall Tuesday
night. Everyone seemed to have
a good time and plenty to eat--
including the Father.
I
President Harry, according to
an article in the Christian Science
Monitor. is planning to base his
1952 campaign---if he has one--
on a platform of "peace, pros-
perity and opportunity" and
that with taxes at an all-time
high still short some 20 billion
bucks of the estimated budget,
and a national debt cloud of some
$250 billion to pay interest on.
What price inflation, Harry?

has disclosed some startling re-
sults in the way of uninformed
students, it is learned. Among
the conclusions it was found that
