Department of Agriculture. con- stituting an income of about $60 million. California produces about 1.3 per cent of the nation's total swine crop, which is expected to top 106 million head this year. Hogs bring in 1.5 per cent of the state's total farm income. This year's huge hog crop is expected to e the nation's second largest on record, Probably an im- portant factor in the current rise in hog production is the use of the antibiotic feed supplements. Re- ports from farmers in this and other Pacific Coast states prove that among herds fed an eureomy- B12 supplement, mor- tality is decreased (growth is more rapid and less feed is consumed up to sell-off time.
