2B Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011 Bulletin, Progressive, Record, Reporter VITAL STATISTICS OBITUARIES Roberta Marquette Roberta "Robbie" Mar- quette, 48, of Reno, Nev., entered into rest Oct. 15, 2011, in Reno. She was born in Folsom and grew up in Portola. She graduated from Foothill College as a radia- tion technologist. She worked as a radiation technologist and also ran a florist shop in Portola called The Blossom Shop. She enjoyed outdoor activi- ties including running, hik- ing and bicycling, as well as bead craft activities. Robbie was known for her infectious smile, keen sense of humor and joyful spirit. You could always count on Robbie to provide endless energy and spunk to any situation. Her gracious spirit touched the lives of so many, and we will continue to cherish our memories of her warmth and kindness for the rest of our lives. She is survived by her father Gerald (Judy) Mar- quette; daughters Hannah and Jessica Rosser; siblings Mike (Edeltraud) Marquette, Cathy (Roy) Marquette Skogstrom, Margie Mar- quette King, Tim Marquette and Chris (Mike) Marquette Coscuna; and nephews and nieces Jeremiah and Shawn Marquette, Matt, Sarah and Sam King, Ashley, Lindsey and Megan Coscuna, and Will and Jackson Marquefte. She was preceded in death by mother Jacqueline McCarty Marquette and nephew Riley Marquette. A memorial mass will be held Nov. 19 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Portola, at 10 a.m. There will be a gathering for friends and family in the parish hall immediately after the mass. Loys Marilyn Wilkinson Loys Marilyn Wilkinson was born Jan. 8, 1926, in Berkeley. She died Nov. 2, 2011, in Quincy. Loys and her husband Melvin retired to Cromberg in 1989. Here is where they were able to fulfill thei]: lifelong dream of living in the pristine mountains and enjoying the beauty of nature around them. Loys retired from the aerospace industry where she negotiated government contracts. Loys was very active in her church and participated in the many community activities the church hosted. Her home was always open to everyone. She had the reputation of being a wonderful, gracious hostess. She enjoyed many weekends of impromptu small social gatherings when friends would visit and share many laughs and warm memories with her and Melvin. Special love-filled, warm-memories were made when family members would vacation in Cromberg. She had a special way of making someone she just met feel at home and welcome. Loys is survived by her sister Lila Crickmer, of Jackson; brother Benjamin Getman, of Las Vegas, Nev.; and children Robert Wilkin- son, Beth DeGraff and Debo- rah Garner. Loys was blessed with six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Nov. 26 at the Quincy Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2333 Pine St., at 2 p.m. Michael Lee Murchison Michael Lee Murchison was born Sept. 5, 1993, in Greenville. Michael passed unexpectedly into his eternal life Nov. 7, 2011, at the age of 18 at his home in Winnemucca, Nev. At the age of 2, Michael was diagnosed with autism. Even though autism robbed him of his ability to speak, he made himself heard loud and clear through sign language, gestures and a special com- munication program on his iPad. Michael was a junior at Lowry High School, where he participated in the Life SkillS Program. Michael enjoyed every- thing Disney, country music, anything Muppets, swim- ming, Christmas lights and fireworks. He loved sPending time at the family ranch feed- ing the animals and, most of all, spending time with his three brothers, Jesse, Sam and Jeremy. Michael loved the Special Olympics, partici- pated regularly in track and bowling and was the proud recipient of several gold medals. Michael touched many lives with his quirky per- sonality, infectious laughter, special smile and the mischie- vous twinkle in his brown eyes when he was doing something he shouldn't. Michael is survived by his mother and step-father Leanna and Brad Moore; father Russell Murchison; brothers Jesse, Sam and Jeremy; grandparents Gary and Susan Neer and Lyle and Shirley Murchison; great-grandparents Kenneth and Dorothy McIntyre and Margaret Neer; many aunts and uncles, including Aaron and Ryan Neer; and numerous cousins. A celebration of Michael's life was held Saturday, Nov. 12, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Greenville with Rev. Fred Kerr officiating. Interment followed in the Greenville District Cemetery. Merle Leon Hyder Longtime Indian Valley independent logging truck operator Merle Leon Hyder passed from this life peace- fully with his loving compan- ion and caregiver, Barbara, at his side Monday morning Nov. 7, 2011, at his residence in Crescent Mills. Merle was 80 years old. Born in Priest River, Idaho, Aug. 5, 1931; Merle was raised and educated in Portland, Ore. He had a somewhat tumultuous childhood• and left• home early to fend for himself working at just about anything that he could find. He married Ann Helguson HYder in Oregon and to this union a daughter and two sons were born. The family moved to the Indian Valley community of Greenville in 1953 and it is here Merle began what became his lifelong passion: operating a logging truck. As an independent operator he remained active until retir- ing just a year and a half ago. He once said he had to retire as his truck was just getting too tired. Merle also enjoyed a good game of dice and when time permitted could be found in the local restaurants shaking for coffee and taking the locals' dollars at will. In passing, Merle leaves lais companion and loving care- giver for the past 21 years, Mills; and Children Gerald Hyder, of Bakersfield, John Hyder, of Crescent Mills, and Linda Hyder, of Cave Junction, Ore. He is also survived by one brother, four grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Merle joins his late wife Ann and two brothers in their eternal home. Lowell A. Stringfellow Lowell A. Stringfellow passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at the age of 97. Lowell was born Oct. 31, 1914, in Chico, the oldest of six children born to Austin Stringfellow and Gladys Ganow. He was born at the original Enloe,Hospital and was actually delivered by Dr. Enloe. Lowell married Clara Fay Slack Dec. 14, 1938, in Reno, Nev. Lowell is survived by his wife of almost 73 years, Clara Stringfellow, of Durham; his son Lowell Alan Stringfellow, of Quincy; daughter Diane Barbara, of Durham; five grandchildren: Lisa Davis (Donnie), of Quincy, Michele Warren (Martin), of BangOr, Casey Stringfellow, Suzan Hickman, of Chico, and Sabrina Barbara, of Durham; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchil- dren. He is also survived by one brother, Claude Stringfel!ow (Barbara)~ of .~Or0~[6~and s6veraf~i~s and nephews. _:. He was predeceased by siblings Thelma Grace Best, Samuel Stewart, Ward B. and Wendell D. Stringfellow. When Lowell and Clara were first married they lived for a short time in Nome, Alaska, where Lowell worked on a gold dredge. During World War II he worked in the Shipyards in Brisbane. He later worked for Meadow Valley Lumber Company in Meadow Valley as a heavy equipment mechanic. In 1955, Lowell and Clara purchased their home in Durham. Lowell retired from the state of California Depart- ment of Water Resources. He enjoyed planting a huge garden on their 10 acres in Durham, sharing the fruits of his labor with his many friends and family. Lowell enjoyed traveling with the Good Sam RV Club in Durham. He was a charter member of the group. Services were held at the LDS church in Chico, Mon- day; Nov. 14, where Lowell and Clara are long-standing members.
