In the boys' division, Quin- cy earned the No. 1 seed. Chester earned the top seed in the girls' division. On Wednesday, Oct. 26, the Portola and Quincy girls' soc- cer teams will compete in a semifinal playoff match at Portola, beginning at 6 p.m. The winner of that game will face Chester in the cham- pionship match Saturday, Oct. 29, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Chester High School. The Chester Volcanoes earned home field advantage by finishing their regular sea- son with an 8-0 record. In the boys' playoffs, Quin- cy received a first-round bye after eighth-seeded Squaw Valley Academy bowed out of the brackets. Quincy will play a semifi- nal game Thursday, Oct. 27, in Quincy. If the Trojans win, they will also host the cham- pionship match Saturday, Oct. 29. The boys' playoff tournament is made up of the best teams in the Shasta-Cascade League, Evergreen League and Feath- er River League. This week's quarterfinals slated No. 2 Tulelake against No. 7 Weed, No. 3 Mt. Shasta against No. 6 Trinity and No. 4 Fall River against No. 5 Red- ding Christian. Photo by Shannon Morrow Greenville alumni suit up Shannon Morrow Sports Editor sports@plumasnews.com This Saturday evening, Oct. 29, alumni football players from Greenville High School will have the chance to pull on the pads one more time and compete against each oth- er in a full-contact football game. The contest, which begins at 7 p.m., is a fundraiser for Greenville High School. The teams, which have al- ready held several practices, will consist of graduates of even-numbered years compet- ing against graduates of odd- numbered years. Denny Wright is coaching the "home" team, and Dean Brackett is coaching the "vis- iting" team. The quarterbacks will be Matt McCutcheon for the home team and Raymond Robinson for the visiting team. Kaley Bentz, who organized the game, will play wide re- ceiver for the home team, along with Trevor Bentz and Chris Preston. The wide receivers for the visiting team are Nathan Tucker, Colton Mohr and Brandon Robinson. The home team's running backs are slated to be Ehren Bentz, Powell Meads, Larry Yocum, Jason McIntyre, Jim- my Purkey and Garret New- comb. The running backs listed on the visiting team are Dustin Nelson, John Bowen, Joe Morris, Derrek Taddei, Kalija Steele, Mike Mohr and Adan Combreros. For linemen, the home team will depend on Matthew DiGiacomo, Sascha Grutter, Jim Larsen, Jason Wyman, Ryan Meacher, Blake Roath, Tony Garcia, Joey Floriolli and Michael Gorbet. The visiting team's line will be anchored by Jeff Perozzi, Brandon Pack, LandoR Thrall, Raymond Talavera, J.R. Flores, Paul Harris, Hugh Ausmus, Michael Deal, Luke Carthew and Jaime Gonzales. These rosters may change. Players are advised to check the roster on game day to see what team they are on. Admission to the game is $10. The class of 2012 will be running concessions, fresh cider will be sold by students in the natural resources pro- gram, and new GHS apparel will be sold by the Associated Student Body.
