Greenville Elementary
Susan Porter's Third and Fourth Grade Class
Mrs. Porter's
young charges are
a well-behaved
and respectful
group of young-
sters who really
seem to enjoy
their school day.
They have a traf-
fic light in their
room that has a
sound detector inside, and it flashes yellow or red if they are too loud. The older stu-
dents are learning algebra this year, while younger students are mastering re-group-
ing and subtraction with borrowing. They are studying California Indians and will
be going on a field trips to learn about the local Mountain Maidu culture. Students
keep journals with a clearly stated goal in mind, such as writing longer descriptions.
