Roll was called with most of the members present. Each mem- ber reported that their project was completed. We had a discussion on who we would like to be our new leader, several people were ap- pointed to talk to prospective leaders. La Verne Gates was asked to see if there are official 4-H pins for president, if so we are going to buy them for all our' past presidents and secretaries. Delores "Wherry was appointed to contact Mrs. Rowett about a booth in the school carnival. Since there are only about two members left fro Taylorsville, we decided to hold all our meet- ings in Greenville from now on. Jack Holt and Louis Sabala are to contact Mr. Wells about meet- ing in one of the quonset huts and to see about some lumber to make benches with. After scoring our years worl we find we will get another gold seal on our charter. The meeting was adjourned and refreshments wer served. Vivian Wiley--Reporter. VETERANS URGED TO MAKE INQUIRY REGARDING DELAYS Before a veteran "takes his pen in hand" to complain to some gov- ernmental agency about delays in connection with his rights and benefits, he should try a visit or a telephone call to Plumas County Veterans' Service Office, Court House, Quincy, or telephone Quin- cy 6. The reason cited by Gallup for this suggestion is that in most cases it will save the veteran val- uable time, and in a few cases it may even keep him from being further tangled in red tape. "We make it ur business to know why" certain delays occur," Gallup said. "Certain ones are routine--for example, authoriza- tion for dental treatment cannot be granted until the Veterans' war- time dental records are obtained from the armed forces and are studied. The reason for a delay in a Na- tional Service Life Insurance check can usually be readily_ found by someone familiar wfth the method of processing such pay- ments. Similarly, World War II veterans Studying under the GI Bill of Rights are being inform- ed already that their initial subsis- tence checks will be late in com- ing. Gallup added that knowing where and to whom to write is important as well as knowing when to write, and offered the facilities of his office at Quincy to veterans and their dependents with any inquiry or complaint in connection with veteran matters. <1 GAA PLAYDAY HELD AT GREENVILLE SATURDAY Saturday, October sixth, was the big day of the year for the Girls' Athletic Association of Greenville High School.
