Weddle passed away peace- fully at his Quincy home following a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family members. John was born Dec. 27, 1943, in Compton, to John H. and Aletta Weddle. He spent his childhood in Long Beach where he attended public schools through high school. He later attended Long Beach City College, Santa Ana Col- lege, Golden West College and Orange Coast College. In the 1960s and early 1970s, John spent nearly 10 years working on the Apollo space program at Rockwell International. During the same period, he served four years in the Army Reserve and started a family. He raised two children, John Christopher and Jennifer Marie. During the 1970s, John raced boats and off-road race cars and was the senior mem- ber of the Weddle Racing Team. It was then that he started Weddle Engineering, a Long Beach based company specializing in the repair and service of high performance off-road transaxles. In 2000 the company was renamed Weddle Industries, and was relocated to Goleta, where his son, Chris Weddle, and cousin, Ron Weddle, own and operate the family business, which continues to flourish. During his 27-year career as a firefighter for the city of Huntington Beach, John served as an engineer, an ar- son investigator, a hazardous materials specialist and a labor contract negotiator. Following his retirement in 1999, he and his wife, Mary, relocated to Quincy. John served on the Plumas County Museum board of directors from 2001 - 2011. He was a voracious reader and particularly enjoyed reading about and discussing history. John and Mary formed a monthly reading group in Quincy. He traveled through- out the United States and visited Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Canada, South Africa, Guatemala, .Mexico and Europe. John was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, husband, son, brother and uncle. He is survived by his wife, Mary; his son Chris; his daughter Jenny; grandchil- dren Lola and Desmond; his father John and stelmother Mary; stepfather Selman; sister Gall; brothers Todd and Mark; and several other loving family members. John will be deeply missed by his family and friends. A celebration of John's life will take place Sunday, Oct. 2, at the grounds of the Plumas County Museum in Quincy. For information on where to meet for workdays and about all upcoming events, please go to our website @: www.sterratrails.org or ematl tnfo@sierrafrails.org Faye Cleo Flanery I,: On Sept. 16, 2011, Faye Cleo Flanery (Bamber, Adamson) lost her courageous battle with breast cancer. She will be greatly missed by hey friends and most especially her family. Faye was born Nov. 20, 1937, in Havre, Mont. At the age of 4, she and her family moved to Southern Califor- nia. Faye graduated from Bellflower High School in 1955 where she was a song leader and majorette. Faye relocated to Chico in 1961 and then to Meadow Valley in 1974. She worked many years in the accounting field for Plumas Unified School District and Plumas Rural Services. She was also a licensed electrologist. Faye enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and her poodle companion Lucy. Over the years she was a Girl Scout leader, a majority member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, bowled in various leagues and enjoyed antiquing, gardening, camp- ing and crocheting. Faye LS survived by her children: daughfer Kerry Bamber-Simonds and hus- band Donald, of E1 Dorado Hills; daughter Vicki Adam- son and partner Jerry Alvey, of Quincy; son Scott Adam- son and wife Stacy, of Chico; and daughter Stacy Huffmon and husband James, of Quincy. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Melissa, Sarah, Trevor, Tristan and Matthew; her step-father Virgil Dorr; her sisters Cleta Ross and Joanne Bolt; and many nieces and nephews. Faye's family suggests that remembrances be made in her memory to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Heather Danae Prosser Starr Our beautiful daughter, sister, friend and mother Heather Danae Prosser Start, 25, was taken from us Sept. 19, 2011. Heatherdoll was born July 8, 1986, in Fayetteville, N.C. At 9 months of age she moved to Manteca with her loving mother Sherry. When she was 9 years old she wel- comed her younger sister Taylor into the family. She graduated from East Union High School in 2004 where she played soccer and volley- ball and was active in cheer- leading. Heather then attend- ed the University of Nevada, Reno where she studied criminal justice and received her bachelor's degree in 2009. Heather will always be remembered for her saucy personality, high energy, her amazing smile and the ability to light up a room as soon as she walked in. Heather's passions included dancing, shopping, the SF Giants, the ocean, snow- boarding and -- just like any girl -- yearly trips to NASCAR,races. But above any of thih, Heather valued her family members and would have done anything for them, especially her baby boy Ethan. She lived life to the fullest and took ad- vantage of every opportunity she had. While at UNR, Heather met the love of her life, Jason Michael Starr. The two quickly established a passionate relationship. On April 15, 2010, Heather and Jason were blessed with a beautiful baby boy, Ethan David Starr. Ethan exempli- fies the best of both worlds: the strong willed tenacity of his mother, the ardent passion of his father, and the intelligence and good looks of both. Heather is survived by her best friend and mother, Sherry Prosser; fiance Jason Starr; son Ethan Starr; sister Taylor Prosser; grandparents Kelly and Darlene Griffith; grandfather Leonard Rieb; great-great-grandma Emma Rieb; aunt and uncle Lenny and Teresa Rieb; aunt Tam- my Trukki; cousins Jaycee Rieb and Richard and Robert Milby; parents-in-law Janet DeWitt and Gary Starr; and sister- and brother-in-law Jessica and Ryan Start. A celebration of life was held in Heather's honor at Portola Baptist Church in Portola Thursday, Sept. 22. A reception followed at Long- boards Bar and Grill in Graeagle. Carolee Ann Ashbaugh Carolee Ann Ashbaugh passed from this life peace- fully at Eastern Plumas Health Care's Loyalton Campus Monday afternoon, Sept. 19, 2011, following a courageous battle with back pain and dementia.
