Leda was a daughter of Marie and William Bell. She was one of four sisters and two brothers. The family built a home and dairy on "Bell Lane," which was named after them. There, Leda milked cows and delivered milk around town in glass bottles and also delivered milk to the railroad at the end of Quincy Junction Road where the train deliv- ered it to Walker Mine. Leda married Orville Brown on Sept. 3, 1940. Leda worked at the drug store and during the war she helped her friend Gall Rodgers at the airport (Sky Harbor). Leda had two children: Tommy, born in 1946, and Zona, born in 1952. Leda was a wonderful mother and homemaker. When Leda's children had left the nest she went to work at Wonderland Bakery, then at the Quincy Junior-Senior High School cafeteria, retiring in the 1960s. Leda retired from a job, but continued to live life to the fullest. Leda loved her card club called the 101 Club, and later in years her neigh- borhood pinochle group. On her birthday we always cele- brated with an afternoon of "country club rummy." In the last several years she took on a new card game called "dirty neighbor." Leda enjoyed rodeos and team roping, from the local events to the National Finals hileoot /or enerations ESTABLISHED 1929 MONUMENTS • BENCHES SIGNS . In the 1980s Leda decided she needed a snowmobile to keep up with Zona and Marvin's activities. On her 75th birthday, Leda rode 75 miles on her snow- mobile. Mom enjoyed summers on the patio boat on Bucks Lake and never missed a social event at the lake. Leda celebrated her 90th birthday with a surprise party with many family and close friends. At 93 Leda got her first passport and traveled to Mexico with Marvin and Zona for 4-1/2 months, where she celebrated her 94th birth- day. In May 2011 Leda moved in- to the Quincy Country Villa. Leda roomed with a friend from the 1940s, Ethel Howell. Leda enjoyed all the social events the Villa offered: out- ing to the farmers market, a fishing trip to Greenhorn Guest Ranch (the only lady that participated and caught a few fish), scenic bus rides (it did not matter where the bus was going, Leda just made sure she was on it!), weekly bingo and yahtzee games and the Friday ice cream .socials. One of Leda's favorite events was her annual Plumas County Fair Parade party, which has been a tradi- tion the past 25 years. Per Leda's wishes, there will be no celebration of life at this time. Instead she wanted her celebration of life to be a "Celebration of Life Parade Party" to be held Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012. Leda has left behind her sister Ruth Egbert, of Sattley; daughter Zona Morgan and son-in-law Marvin Morgan, of Quincy; step-granddaugh- ter Carrie Noori and husband Tim Noori; two great-grand- daughters, Emerson and Tatum Noori, of Lincoln; and a very special niece, Sharon Graver[, of Elk Grove.
