FRC brings rodeo, concert
Feather River College
hometown rodeo perfor-
mances are coming to the
Plumas-Sierra County Fair-
grounds Friday, Sept. 23, at
5:30 p.m. and Saturday, Sept.
24, at 2 p.m. Admission is
free.
Texas country rock band
Reckless Kelly performs after
the Friday night rodeo in
Serpilio Hall at the fair-
grounds. Admission for' the
concert is $25 pre-sale and
$30 at the door.
Friday's rodeo is dedicated
to Tough Enough To Wear
Pink, the annual rodeo
fundraiser for the Quincy
Breast Cancer Support
Group. The money raised
helps to pay a facilitator to
help individuals who have
been diagnosed with any
form of cancer. The rodeo
team is the sole supporter of
the group.
The 'eather River College
rodeo team is chasing their
fifth straight regional title.
The rodeo program has con-
tinued to progress every
year. With over 50 students
in the program, this year's
team looks stro;lg. After
transferring 23 students to
universities across the Unit-
ed States last year, the team
has regrouped, recruiting 30
freshmen to compete.
Jade Corkill, currently
leading the world standings
• in team roping in the Profes-
sional Rodeo Cowboys Asso-
ciation (PRCA), is a major
competitor for the team.
CorkiU, along with a talented
group of men and women,
give the coaching staff high
expectations for this year.
Professional bull rider
Chad Denton has agreed to
help the young bull riders at
FRC. Denton qualified for the
National Finals Rodeo last
year in Las Vegas, and has al-
so qualified for the Profes-
sional Bull Riders World Fi-
nals four times. His enthusi-
astic attitude and great
teaching ability are on tap !,
help FRC bull riders make ,.J
even bigger impact on college
rodeo.
Also, returning assistant
coach Billy Bugenig has lm(t
a tremendous year, currently
ranking second in the PRCA
world standings.
