The gruesome find was given more credence when one of the crew picked up a small size man's work shoe just a few feet away. Further search a little farther away brought forth a skull of a bear: but Foreman Gerauld sur t raised that he had better report his find, since he had not heard of any bears in the wilds of the Feather River Country that wore shoes. Following examination of the bones brought in by Gerauld, De- puty Sheriff Owen ccompanied by Dr. Phillip Fox, county physi- cian, District Ranger P. D. Hook and Gerauld. reexamined the area where the bones had been dis- covered, but returned with out fur- ther evidence to indicate the pos- sible mysterious demise of a hu- man being. Since. however, the bones discovered were so nearly like those of a human, Sheriff Schooler, taking no chances, has sent them to the University of California for positive identifica- tion, Mrs. Neal Clarke and children accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Cecil McIntsh and daughter to Chico Friday where they spent the three- day holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Taresh and son, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Eades and daughter Laura drove to Manton Saturday to get their daughter Deaeda who had spent the week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Norcutt They returned home Monday.
