POSTMASTER SMITH
OF ALMANOR RETIRES
AFTER 20 YEARS
(Feather River Bulletin)
Mrs. Adelaide L. Smith. post-
master at Almanor. will resign on
Sept. 30 after 20 years of service.
She is well known throughout
Plumas County, having been a
resident of the county since 1923,
and has been active in many local
and civic affairs. She was state
secretary of the California branct
of the National League of District
Postmasters for four years, and
also editor of the California Dis-
trict Postmaster. She has been
assistant librarian for the Pluma.
County public library for 44
years. With her late husband Fred
J. Smith she established Plumas
Pines, well known resort on Lake
A.lmanor. Mr. Smith passed away
suddenly in August, 1946. She
continued to operate the resort,
making a number of improve-
ments, until last spring when she
sold it to V. Y. Briggs, the pres-
ent operator.
She is a member of Indian
Valley Unit 568, American Le-
gion, Greenville, having recently
received her 10-year pin.
She plans to leave in early Oc-
tober to attend the national Am-
erican Legion convention, also
the postmasters national conven-
tion, both in Miami, Florida. She
will also take the post-convention
trip of the postmasters to Havana
in late October.
She will return by way of Chi-
cago, Kansas City and Denver,
visiting relatives and friends en
route, an/ will locate in South-
ern California for the winter.
Mrs. Smith said this week that
she leaves "with deep regret."
The Almanor post office will
close Sept. 30 to be reopened by
the new postmaster yet to be ap-
pointed.
Mr. and Mrs. Lyal Wells were
visited over the weekend by Mrs.
Wells' sister and brother-in-law
the H. M. Kings of San Leandro.
On Sunday the family group, ac-
companied by Mr. and Mrs. Cor-
nell Kurtz, Bill Lindgren and a
friend, went erawdad fishing at
Almanor.

MONDAY, AUGUST 7, 1951 at 10
O'CLOCK A. M.

"We, the undersigned members of the
Board of Supervisors of the County
of Plumas, Stale of California, hereby
request that a special meeting of said
Board be called for Monday, August
27th, 1951 at 10 o'clock A.M., for the
following purposes:
1. Considcration of Ordinance govern-
ing subdivisions
2. Meeting with the Plumas County
Planning COmmission
3. Welfare Matters
4. County Fair Matters

Motion made by Supervisor Donaen
wirth, seconded by Supervisor Black
man, that this Board accept the resig-
nation of Gordon M. Hunting as a mem-
ber of thc Plumas County Planning
Commission. Carried and so ordered.
Motion made by Supervisor Donnen-
wirth, seconded by Supervisor Black-
man, that Jack Pyper be appointed as
a member of the Plumas County Plan-
ning 0ommission, representing Super-
visorial District No. 1. Carried and so
ordered.
Motion made hy Supervisor Flanagan,
seconded by Supervisor Cloman, that
Victor R. Swanson be appointed as a
member of the Plumas County Planning
Co'remission, representing Supervisorial
District No. 5 Curried and so ordered.

at Anderson's Last Kesort on Mt.
Keddie. Other guests there over
the weekend were Mr. and Mrs.

Mr'. and Mrs. Cliff Newton
took advantage of LaSer Day to
ordinance for Plumas County was read
and considered by members of the Board
of Supervisors and the Planning Com-
mission. Chairman Humphrey explained
reasons why this ordinance wes not
adopted at a previous meeting of the
Board.
The Board recesses until 1:30 P. M.
1:30 P. M.
Tim Board reconvenes. All members
present.
Motion made by Supervisor Cloman,
seconded by Supervisor Flanagan, that
the County Surveyor he instructed to
contact the Joint Pole Association re-]
garding the power and telephone poles
on 0ddie Way, with a report concerning
same to be made to this Board not later
that October 1, 1951. Carried and so
ordered.
Motion made by Supervisor Donnen-
wirtb, seconded by Supervisor Black-
man, that the categorical report, as pre-
sented by Mrs. Yerna Beall, Welfare
Director, be accepted, and that the
County Auditor be authorized to isaac
warrants in payment of the several
aid amounts. Carried and so ordered.
Motion madc by Supervisor Flanagan,
seconded by Supervisor Cloman, that
this Board advertise for bids for "a
Junior Building to be constructed at the
Plumas County Fair Grounds, bids to
bc received on October 1, 1951 at 2
o'clock P. M.
The Board adjourns until its next
regular meetbtg to be held on Tuesday,
Septmnber 4th, 1951 at 10 o'clock A.M.
