OFF TO SCHOOL AGAIN
Clothes For Betty
Co-Ed Topic A00ain
Fall is here, and bells ring in our ear--for we're off to
school again! Thatmeans better than study, better than fun,
the thing that makes the campus boys run--clothes?
"Not how much wardrobe, but what!" says Fashion.
What's the thing for school this fall?
A world of Musts from coat,
suit, blouses, sweaters and skirts,
to play tinle separates, tea-time
frocks, matl most exciting of all
formals! All in the campus
wardrobe and are all selected
with all eye to color, fabric and
style.
F'ull Length
First the coata full length
one fills the bill. And new news
is ill the higher closed-collar
double-In'casted look. One design
show.q it in a frosted cinder
brown Milliken wool suede with
most surprising lining of stop-
rel in rayon.
'rhi i,4 darling with a close-
fitting red velours cloche, and
red haud-stitched cotton gloves.
The bag to(), is" smart in red
fabric• either with shoulder
strap or in pouch form.
"FOR WOMEN ONLY"
The newest thing for women
will be the mannish blouses with
the new string ties, the two way
collar and stitched double cuff.
•.. Flat heels will be all tle rage
in 1952 and it is most douhtfut
you will have a pair of high
heels in your entire wardrobe.
•.. All of our most famous men's
tailors will issue a duplicate suit
for women so that the man and
woman will look exactly aike...
The next new type of watch will
and for many month yet. Cot-
ton, the fabric that is fast be-
coming California's own, be-
comes increasingly popular in
answering the question, "'Vhat-
to-wear." Though cotton is the
ideal classroom dress, it now
sweeps the ball-room with great
pride and glory.
Problem only is "Which?"
and "How - many?" for with
sdnforized nlulti.eolor, wrinkle-
shed gingham, polished cotton
and myriads of others, {lere
is no stopping one. Possibly
the plaids will be most practi-
cal for campus, since they need
the wash-tub least. Trimmed
in velvet, linen or pique they
are dressy and darling, or
simple and sweet, as you wislh
For tea time, too, cotton is
Along with this warm woolly
mething, a suit in a favorite
fabric goes a long way. From a
eor(iuroy dremaker with short
jacket and stand-out peplum in
brown or gold; to a worsted plaid
with long jacket in red and gold,
or green and brown.
Shiny Baton
These go-everywhere s u i t s
will please each Darling Dough-
tel', for some are made with full
four-gores, while others are as
slender s, well as slender as her
own slliny baton.
Since suit's the thing to suit
the occasion, a choice of blouses
t most irortant. In that, some
dre: you up anti some dress
you down, so that one goes from
school to town.
One choice to wear under
the corduroy suit is a chalk

A plaid cotton tllouse is always
perky and good with the solid
color suit. But with the plaid
suit, a truly smart and new thing
is the white blouse made after a
man's shirt. Even to the wing
collar, pleated bosom and French
cuffs. And there is a fling for im-
agination, with the cutie cuff
links, that the l)oy-back-home
gave on Class Day.
Cuddly Ones
Sweaters, of course, c;In aIways
be added. And now with cuddly
ones being designed in tiny-
priced slipovers and cardigans,
every Darling Daughter may
have her quota. Spiced for high-
fashion; a wee heap of summer
saving can be well invested in right. What can be more allur-
at least one cashmere. That ing, or more packable, than a
promises to go all through school cotton lace? And a paradox in
tea - tme style is sure. With a
straight into the Dean's office at
graduation.
Taking a tilt floln Milady,
whose eye for dye is good,
skh'ts may be selected tat
match the sweaters exaetlyto

on,It.
Much has been said aout play-
time separates, but never too
much in that no wardrobe, at
school or at home, can possibly
be complete for that average
Darling Dathter. She dashes
from tennis in shorts, to the mar-
ket in a skirt added to the el-
read] natty outfit, with plaid
cotton blouse returning in time
to sun, her blouse drops off and
reveals a plaid bra' of contrast-
ing rotor.
Coolish Fall
With her thought on coolish
fall, she now adds a wool slack,
and possibly "T" shirt by a num-
ber. Though again, the ever good
sweater ig surely within reach.

For the same occasion, a

soft and subtle--black.
Wee Bits
Running the gamut of the (lay

romance is the formal. And there
is the thrill of fall! Why not make
