Three-on-three tourney is fun
On Friday, Aug. 12, the
Feather River College soccer
team hosted its second three-
on-three tournament.
The tournament was orga-
nized by FRC trainer Juan
Nunez and FRC head soccer
coach Don Williams as a
fundraiser for FRC soccer.
The tournament had almost
30 participants from the Quin-
cy area, and everyone had a
great time.
Each team had to play five
20-minute matches to qualify
for the finals.
In the finals, a local team
called Team Brody, consisting
of mostly Quincy residents,
went up against Team Chorizo,
The first half of the final
was quite a battle, but Team
Chorizo was just too fit and
strong for the locals to
handle, and the final score
ended up Team Chorizo 5 -
Team Brody 3.
"I turned to Juan Nunez at
one point in the tournament
and told him how this is ex-
actly how I dreamed soccer
life in Quincy could be," said
second-year coach Williams.
"The community reaUy comes
out to support us and I could
not be more appreciative."
Campus bonfire
The annual migration of hundreds of athletes from across the nation and different parts
of the world has begun. Feather River College sports programs attract student-athletes
from countries as far away as Argentina, Serbia and England, and from all across the

Join the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship for a volunteer trail workday on August 27th at
the Bucks Creek Trail. The work will focus on deadfall removal and general tread mainte-
nance. The SBTS Trail Crew will also be working on installing a log stringer bridge.
Where to meet: Bucks Creek Trail head where the Bucks Lake Road crosses Bucks
Creek at 9:30 am. It's about a 1.5-mile hike in to the stringer bridge site.
We Provide: Bagels, sack lunch, tools, post-work fixings and beverages..
~: backpack, layers, hat/sunglasses, work gloves, and sunscreen. Volunteer
workdays are a great way to get out into the beautiful backcountry, suck down some fresh
mountain air and perform some much needed restoration and repair to our trails. All are
welcome with no experience necessary!
