Our Plumas County goal is $1,250. This drive is sponsored by the fol- lowing county service organiza- tions: Quincy, 20-30 Club .... Ches- ter, Lions Club; Portola, Rotary Club; Greenville, Soroptimist Club. It estimated that cancer will strike in one out of every two American families. By donating generously to the Cancer dive, you will be doing your part towards controlling this major killer. The need for funds ts great and the worthy projects they sup port are many. Much progress is being made in the battle against Cancer but an estimated 210,000 died of Cancer last year. Of this number, at least 70,000 were the victims of fear and lack of infor- mation. Their deaths could have been avoided if they had acted in time. Let's all do our part to dtspell this fear and ignorance and pre- vent this tragedy from being re- Cancer is a major prob- lem; the fight against is. deserves major' support. C. A. TUP, NER, Plumas County Chairman. THE TRUE BLUEPRINT Let no one imagine that a mili- tary trumph . . . will insure the salvation of men. The underlying problem is not material but spiritual . . . Peace, prosperity, and happiness come from right- eous living . . . The teachings of our Lord put into everyday practice will change individuals and nations from con- ditons of selfishness and strife, ! and nothing else will. No dictator or statesman, pontiff or prime minister or president, can cure our world's sickness unless, through him men are led into ways of righteousness, and nations live by the Sermon on the Mount, which is the blueprint of the kingdom of God. All the peace conferences in history are of no avail without the lifegiving spark of the divine Spirit. --Toronto Globe and Mail. Eureka, after umpty-leven years they have taken a great progressive step. The lid now fits over the entire top. It can be lifted off and can- not easily fall inside. Much wear and tean on our nerves and our vocabultry Is to be anticipated . . we extend our heartiest congra- tulations. We recall some years ago when Cuticura Ointment also went pro- gressive. Since hector was a pup they had made a ean with a neat nicely rounded top from which one's fingers would slide in each frustrated effort to get it open. Frequently a knife, nail file or can opener had to be utilized. But they eventually thought of making a lid with a slight ridge. With such steps forward in mod- ern industry, it may new be ex- pected that our ulcers will subside. We really haven't much to com- ment on this week. As a result of .of overworking for Mike over two week-ends, we had to stay confin- ed for several days and haven'l seen much beyond our bedroom window. We hear Bidwell is in the hospital nursing an infected tooth which may account for the uncon- trolled condition of his water sup- ply this week--we had to boil the stuff to make it edible . . Frenchy, we hear, took time out to make a trip somewhere and get one of those coastal bucks and produly passes us up each time he drives by the house . . tried to get the J. F. Davidsons to stop and enjoy the cool of our oak tree shade as they passed by, but guess they were in too much of a hurry to get the home fires burning. Anyway they didn't see us. Cy, however, did, and is was a pleasure to see him settle down AUDITING - ACCOUNTING TAX CONSULTATIONS Plumas Accountinq Service Q. Phflpotc P. A.
