First flight winners were Linda Layland with a low gross of 85 and Wynnetta Regli with a net score of 67. Second flight winners were Jenni Cesarin with a low gross of 109 and Joyce Gron- roos with a net score of 72'. Jenni also had a chip-in. Guest play is $50 which includes greetl fees, cart and lunch. This year Bailey Creek is hosting the Susan B. Komen Rally for the Cure on Wednes- day, Sept. 7, with a 9 a.m. shot- gun. LACC Nine-Hole Golf The Lake Almanor Country Susanville Open golf tournament Saturday Kayleen Taylor Staff Writer ktaylor@lassennews.com The Diamond Mountain Golf Course hosts the Origi - hal Susanville Open for all those golf lovers in Northeast- ern California. The event will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, and again Sunday, Aug. 21, with shotgun start on individual stroke play. Everyday prices for the golf course are $32 for 18 holes or $25 for nine holes, and in. cludes cart. Family specials are avail- able every Sunday after 2 p.m. Adults are $15 during this time and children play free. There are also season mem- berships available for the peo- ple who can never get too much golf. For more information or tee times, call the Diamond Moun- tain Golf Course at 257-2520. Club 9T Niner Golf group played a match with the North vs. the South. Debbie Stebbins, team captain of the Yanks, and Bonnie Lamb, the Rebels' captain, led their troops in the spirited match team play event desig.ned by tournament chairman Jo Jones. The resulting win proved "the South shall rise again." Many rebel yells and songs were heard during the luncheon that followed. Mt, Huff Wednesday Morning Can you believe the sum- mer we have had? Could any- one ask for better weather for golf?. An excellent turnout on Wednesday, Aug. 10, for the Wednesday Morning Scram- ble at Mt. Huff Golf Course gave us three scoring teams. In first place were team members Ralph Cote, Leo Sorensinski and Barbara Quam. Second place honors went to Robert Turcotte, Loren Lindner and Dick Grace. There were two teams that placed in third: Team 3-A members were Jerry Quam, GOLF TOURNAMENTS Aug. 20 The Bailey Creek Beerfest golf tournament will be held this,Saturday, Aug. 20, at Bailey Creek Golf Course, with a 3 p.m. shot- gun start. The name Beerfest says it all. Sample a different beer on every other hole while enjoying the golfing at Bai- ley Creek. The format is a four-per- son scramble with four-per- son teams. There will be contests for longest drive and closest to the pin. The cost is $80 per person and includes green fees, a golf cart, range balls, a bar- becue dinner and a prize fund. The first flight winners were: first place, Carol Regim- bal with a 41; second place, Julie Azevedo, also with a 41. Tie was broken on the front nine holes. The second flight winners were: first place, Sharon Auge with a 43; second place, Shirley Friedrichs with a 44.5. • We also had one chip-in to- day on No. 16. Carol Regimbal won the pot. Also two birdies: Julie Azevedo and Lori Sinclair. Shirley Friedrichs has placed so often lately, I think she is ready for the pros. Way to go ladies, everyone had a great time and played well. Whitehawk Ranch Ladies Golf Club On Tuesday, Aug. 9, the Whitehawk Ladies Golf Club played "Ts and Fs" where one net ball per two-person team counted on all the holes begin- ning with "T" and/or "F." The team of Laurie McKenzie and Jean Haaf won. The team of Virginia Luhring and Della Miller came in second in a card-off. Laurie and Jean both had chip-ins, as well. Graeagle Meadows Women's Golf Club On Thursday, Aug. 11, the members of the Graeagle Meadows Women's Golf Club comlleted their annual Club Championship Tournament. For the 17th time Priscilla Piper was the winner. The • runner-up was Bey Reynolds. In the first flight, Cheryl Brennan had the best low net score with Dee Walker com- ing in second. In the second flight, Lorraine Cornish had the best low gross score. Carolyn Genasci, Sharon Edward and Teresa Puste- jovsky tied for first place with a gross of 95. Edwards earned low putts with 32. Wednesday, Aug. 10, the game was Ts and Fs, counting holes starting with T or F and subtracting half handicap. Giovanna Zinn and Marilyn Reddick tied with a score of 33-1/2. # Louise Camacho's 30 putts was the low for the day. Barbara Thieler, Carolyn Genasci, Liz Griffin, Sharon Edwards, Jeanette Kindle and Lisa Reed will be" traveling to McCloud, Calif., Monday, Aug. 22, for a Professional Women's Golf Association (PWGA) play day. The Ladies Club champi- onship will be held the week- end of Saturday, Aug. 27. Alt lady club members are en- couraged to play. Mt. Huff Thursday Night The Thursday night "Nine and Dine" Scramble was an- other booming success. We fielded nine teams and then had a wonderful meal The team of Richard Mauldin, Wes Morgan, Paris Moore and Jeff Stevens took first place at 7 under while the team of Dick Grace, Chuck Thrall, Butch Back and Mike Ingle came in second at 5 un- der and the team of Todd Johns, Gary Metzdorf, Gary Hughes and Ron Clark won af- ter a three-way card draw.
