The Lake Almanor Area
Chamber of Commerce will
host the last of the season's
"Rockin' On the River" con-
certs Aug. 17 in Chester Park,
from 5 - 8 p.m.
Tom Rigney and Flambeau
are the headliners in the last
of the three concert offerings.
According to Andrew
Gilbert, San Jose Mercury
News, Flambeau is "one of the
Bay Area's most formidable
bands a roots-powered
sound which freely mingles Ca-
jun influences with New Or-
leans R&B, jazz, traditional
Irish music and rock." Rigney
was also crowned the 2011 em-
peror of the Sacramento Jazz
Festival.
Tom Rigney has composed
most of the musical selections
you will hear although he
mixes in classics from New
Orleans. Most fitting for this
particular concert is the de-
scription of his style as "mu-
sical gumbo."
It is said his music comes
from "traces of his Irish roots
and echoes of Eastern Eu-
rope" along with the dash of
the coast of Spain.
Members of Flambeau in-
clude Danny Caron on guitar,
Caroline Dahl on piano, Brent
Rampone on drums and Steve
is $20. For the adventurous,
teams can dish up both for a
cost of $30.
Whether chili or gumbo,
teams are required to prepare
two - three gallons and serve
the public as they vie for the
coveted cash prizes for peo-
ple's choice and best booth,
gumbo or chili.
Tasting kits are $5.

tainment brought to you by
