That's true. But it'. all a
compromise. The quiet men who
dreamed up Palomar were scien-
tists, not businessmen, and
scientists don't work well with
someone peeking over their
shoulders. They simply wanted
to take some -ather special pic-
tures. And to take those pic-
tures they needed a rather spec-
ial camera -- a camera that
weighs 530 tons, with a mirror
