The dam- age, he said, was done at Eureka, and while he didn't exactly say sD. the inference was that one of the big fish he caughht showed a display of temper by biting his finger. Les all his wife Delores succeeded in bagging five salmon for a total of 92 peunds. REND PLUTOCRAT VISITS Mr. and Mrs, William Leavitt of RenD were guests for several days last week at The Hideaway during 1 )art of their vacation, visiting l meanwhile with the Norman John-: sons and Tommy Thomasons. Mr. Lesvitt has been connected with the Rend newspapers for several years snd Mrs. Leavitt serves in an executive capacity with the ?Tevada Credit Bureau. '.AIN STREET SHOPS SHOW IMPROVEMENT The Vogue Dress Shop and the Colden Baar, owned by Nora VCelcla and Frenchy Paulian, res- pectively, are a definite credit to h ,.ppearance of Main street as the paper goes to press this week. MAN, TWO YOUNGSTERS CONTROL FOREST FIRE ON HIGHWAY 89 Driving to Truckee from Quincy Tuesday, Rufus P. Zyscowski, past president and director of the Plu- • as County Chamber of Com- merce, discovered a starting forest fire along side of Highway 89 just east of the fish hatchery in the Plumas National Forest. Zys- cowski, an ardent conservationist, has a shovel and ax as part of his traveling equipment, so tackled the fire which was about 403 square feet in area, and with the aid of his two small youngsters he managed to hold the fir until a fire crew from Graeagle Lum- ber Company arrived with a fire tank truck to complete the sup- pression and mop-up job. Not satisfied with just stopping the forest fire which threatened thousands of acres of valuable green forest. Zyscowski wanted to find out how the fire sta%ed and did. A freshly used cottage cheese container stuffed with used paper napkins and two recently issued credit card sales tags gave the name of the tourist, who had stop- ped in this beautiful little green forest dell with his family for lunch a few hours previously. It is the old story to forest rangers. HH Rummage SALE STARTING SATURDAY Living Room Furniture .
