MONDAY, JULY 2nd, 1951 at
10 O'CLOCK A. M.

Since copies of the minutes of
previous meetings have been
mailed to each Supervisor, the
Chairman orders that the minutes
of previous meetings be approved.

The results of the special Ches-
ter Public Utility District elec-
tion which was held on Tuesday,
June 26. 1951 to determine whe-
ther the number of Directors at
Large of the Chester Public Util-
ity District be increased from
three (3) to five (5) were received
and canvassed by the Board. Mo-
tion made by Supervisor Donnen-
wit%h, seconded by Supervisor
Flanagan, that this Board certify
the following vote: Yes: 16; No:
2. Carried and so ordered.
Motion made by Supervisor
Blackman. seconded by Supervis-
or Donnenwirth that this Board
go on record as recommending
the appointment of J. C. Cloman
to the Special Advisory Commit-
tee on welfare matters of the
County Supervisors Association
of California. and that he be au-
thorized to attend the first two
meetings of this committee with
his expenses paid. Carried and
so ordered.

ance with the recommendation
of the County Surveyor. this
Board accept the painting of the
Portola Memorial Hail, and the
County Auditor be authorized' to
issue a warrant payable to Rob-
err L. Bishop in the amount of
$1,216.00, being the first and
final payment on his painting
contract. Carried and so ordered.

Blackman. that the communica-
tion from the Orange County Title
Company be referred to the Dis-
tr'ict Attorney, with the recom-
mendation that he discuss this
with the Forest Service. Carried
and so ordered.
The categorical report of Mrs.
Verna G. BeaU. Welfare Director,
is presented. On motion made by
Supervisor Donnenwirth, second-
ed by Supervisor Blackman, and
unanimously carried. IT IS OR-
DERED that the report be accept-
ed as presented, that Findings of
Liability of Repsonsible Relatives
be approved, and that the request
for special: medical care and gen-
eral relief be approved; and 1T
IS FIJRTHER ORDERED that the
County Auditor be authorized to
issue warrants in payment of the
several aid amounts.

This being the time set for re-
ceiving bids for the furnishing of
electricity to the Quincy Lighting
District for a five-year period, the
Chairman orders that bids be
opened. bid is received froin the
Pacific Gas and Electric Com-
Dany. Motion made by Supervisor
Cloman, seconded by Supervisor
Donnenwirth. that this Board ac-
cept the bid of the Pacific Gas
and Electric Company for furn-
ishing electricity to the Quincy
Lighting District for a five-year
period commencing the first day
of June, 1951. Carried and so or-
dered.

Donnenwirth, seconded by Super-
visor Flanagan, that the Indian
Creek bridge, designated as
F.A.S. project S-1062 (1) be re-ad-
vertised, with items one (1} and
two (2) being deleted, same being
for removing the existing bridge
and clearing and grubbing slx
acres of land. Carried and so or-
dered.

mence with the replacement of
the Rich Bar Bridge with a Bailey
Truss at an approximate cost of
$25,000,000. Carried and so or-

Fianagan, that the bid of C. D.
Mitchem in the amount of $33,-
763.00 which was submitted to
this Board on June 25th, 1951 for
the construction of a Junior
Building for the Plumas County
Fair, be rejected as being in ex-
ccss of'_" the amount budgeted, and
that the Clerk of this Board be
authorized to return the Bidder's
Bond which accompanied this bid.

County Fair be given authority
to pay the Portola Reporter $697.-
93 for the 1951 premium books,
same being in accordance with

494-A be adopted, requesting the
Department of Public Works, Di-
vision of Highways to revise the
County-State agreement in con-
nection with Federal Project S -
1062 (1). deleting Items 1 and 2
and to readvertise for bids.

ENJOY ANNUAL PARTY
Thirty members of Jewell Stan-
dart's Junior Sunday School class
enjoyed their annual picnic last
Sunday when they journeyed to
Lake Almknor,. They were trans-
ported via the Standart scow to
the 3-mile island, and enaged
in an outdoor dinner and swim-',
ruing party. A total of eight trips
was made with the Standart boat
in order to move the participants
and their supplies to "the island
and back again to the mainland.
Those serving as chaperones
and providing transportation to
the lake were Mr. and Mrs. Jerry
Saffeli, Mrs. Clay Barber, Start
Nagler. and" Mr. and Mrs. George
Standart.

SPREAD OF BLAZE
Prompt action on the part of
the Crescent Mills Fire Depart-
ment halted what might have
been a serious fire last weekend
when a blaze started at the rear
of the Darnell and Ghidossi places.
Grass was said to have ignitl
from a moving truck, and quite
an area was burned over before
the blaze was extinguished, but
no other damage done, it was re-
ported.
