Law and Order policy
Information that appears in this column is compiled from the Plumas
County Sheriff's Office activity log, the county correctional center's
booking log and California Highway Patrol press releases. The Sheriff's
Blotter shows initial charges. In some instances the charges may
change after the dispatch report. We do not report suspects' names in
arrests for public intoxication or drunken driving unless accompanied
by another serious charge, such as probation violation, a vehicle acci-
dent or another felony. The fact that someone has been arrested and
charged with a crime does not constitute guilt. The case may never ap-
pear in court if the district attorney determines there is insufficient evi-
dence to prosecute. The fact that someone was involved in an automo-
bile collision does not constitute liability or fault. Minors are named as
legal-age drivers at 16, unless they are charged with a crime in
conjunction with an incident. The CHP determines whether injuries are
characterized as minor, moderate or fatal.
