Monica Hawthorn, of Reno, placed second with a time of 32:36 while Franci Free, of Rancho Santa Fe, fin- ished in third place at 36:42. Female age 61 - 65 Shirley Shaw, of Corvallis, Ore., again claimed first in this division with a run time of 25:04. Susan Covino (Collins), of Guinda, cap- tured second at 35:53. Dian Claunch, of Oakland, placed third with a run time of 36:00. Female age 66 - 70 Carolyn Ward, of Redding, finished in first with a time of 31:13. Other finishers in- cluded Sue Heimann, of Chico, and Sharon Sammon, of Costa Mesa. Female age 71 - 75 Diane Bice, of Lake Almanor, was the sole com- petitor in this age division. Female age 76 plus In second place, Jean Cargill, of Red Bluff, again finished the 5K run. Norma Jean Williams, of San Jose, was the first in this age group to cross the finish line. Janet Owen, of Lake A1- manor, trailed for third place. Male age 7 - 10 Aidan Doms, of Chester, clocked first in this age group with a time of 24:19. Hayden Hallatt, of Novato, claimed second with a run time of 24:50 while Jack Hildebrand, of Chico, ran a third at 27:29. Male age 11 - 14 First place' in this age bracket went to Carson Leav- itt, of Reno, with fhe time of 22:54. Austin, Texas, resident David Gottardi placed second at 23:11 and placing third at 26:32 was Taylor Dannon, of Huntington Beach. Male age 15 - 18 Matthew Paulsen, of Reno, captured the best time in this bracket with a run time of 19:02. Second went to Bryan Schaake, of Litchfield (Lassen County), with a time of 20:16. Last year Schaake captured the best time in this bracket with a run time of 19:36. Matt Staggs, of Lake A1- manor, claimed third with a run time of 20:21. Male age 19 - 25 Susanville resident Adam Carrillo placed first in this age bracket with a time of 19:11. In 2010 he placed sec- ond in a faster pack by run- ning the 5K in 19:02. Second place went to Scott Seversen, of Granite Bay, with a time of 19:48. Third went to Ben Shapiro, of San- ta Cruz, who ran a time of 22:08 Male age 26 - 30 Ezra Halton, of Chico, who clocked 21:18 at the finish line, ran the best time in this division. Adam Burke, of Or- angevale, placed second with a run of 21:51. Chester's Kurt Hunt ran third witha time of 22:33. Male age 31 - 35 Scott Hiza, of Portland, Ore., scored first place in this age bracket with a run time of 18:28. In addition to outdo- ing his 2010 run time of 19:12, Hiza also posted the fastest overall male run time for 2011. In this division, Doug Sleak, of Pacifica, placed sec- ond with a run time of 19:02. B.J. Jernigan, of Rancho Cor- dova, claimed third with a 21:25 run time. Male age 36 - 40 Chris Devine, of Chico, placed first in this division with a run time of 19:15. He placed second last year at 26:38. Holy Land tour from a chair An opportunity to take an armchair cruise of the Holy Land will be offered Wednesday, July 20, in the social hall of the Greenville Community United Methodist Church. The public is welcome to this free program that will be presented by Eldridge Trott, Greenville resident and member of the church. Trott traveled in the Holy Land and taught a number of classes under the title, "The History and Geogra- phy of the Holy Land." He is a former communi- ty college lecturer and has also published both fiction and nonfiction books about different topics. The one-hour program will start at 7 p.m. It is hoped there will be time after the program for questions and discussion. Refreshments will be served. There is no admission charge for the program, though there will be an op- portunity to make a free- will offering to the church if anyone desires to. The church is located at 212 Pine St., just behind the Sierra Sunrise Coffee House and Deli in Greenville. COMMUNI At 22:04, second place went to David Kettcamp, of Den- ver, Colo. Third place went to San Diego resident Dan Et- tlich with a run time of 22:56. Male age 41 - 45 First place in this age group went to Lake Almanor resident R.A. Rydell with a run time of 20:03. Chester Classic Fun Run co-coordinator Eric O'Kelley captured second place with a run of 22:53. In 2010, he placed third with a run time of 23:42. Novato resident Mike Hal- latt took the third place ,ot with a 24:06 run time. Male age 46 - 50 Rick Turner, of Chico, placed first with a run time of 20:21, which was five sec- onds faster than his 2010 run and second place award. Rob Waller, of Manhattan Beach, snagged second place with a finish time of 22:B9. David Solum, of Repalin, Mo., followed in third with a run time of 23:13. Male age 51 - 55 Dan Keck, of Coming, took a first in this division with a run time of 20:39. r ! Paul Van Schaik, of the Netherlands, placed second with a run time of 21:46. Tony Ohmann, of Rose%tile, cap- tured third with a run time of 23:34. Male age 56 - 60 Doug Schmenk, of Fair Oaks, claimed the first place run in this age bracket with a time of 20:09. Bieber resident (Lassen County) Laurence Crabtree placed second with a run time of 22:35. Third place went to Bobby Porter, of Or- ange County, with a run time of 23:15. Male age 61 - 65 First place in this division went to Nell Sybert, of Vista, Calif., with a time of 22:27. Susanville resident Phil Nemir claimed second with a run time of 27:16. James Leonard, of Lake Almanor, placed third with a run time of 34:16. Male age 66 - 70 Jim Drake, of Lake A1- manor, placed first in this division with a run time of 29:14. Second place went to Jim Leonard, of Lake A1- manor, with a time of 29:45. Bob Faust, of Willows, ran a 30:40. Male age 71 - 75 At one year older, Jim :: Drake, of Lake Almanor and : Sacramento, bumped up into a higher age bracket and can now claim a first place win in two different divisions, • two years in a row. In this group he placed first with a run time of 30:18. Last year he took first in the age 66 - 70 division with a run time of 29:14. Second place went to Glenn Reed, of Shasta, with a run time of 37:28. Reed also took second in the 2010 Chester 5K with a run time of 36:23. Lake Almanor's Rich Ry- dell claimed third at 39:36. Male age 76 plus There were no male run- ners in this age bracket for the 2010 run. The 2011 Chester Classic 5K Fun Run drew three run- ners: two from Lake A1- manor and one from Chester. Moreover, earthquake activity has been in single digits 14 times in the last 22 weeks. During these last Z2 weeks, ac- tivity has'been over the 20 quake-per- week mark only once. This is an indica- tion of a very quiet seismic period. y of seismicity remained relaxed as well. as no activity measured M 2.0 or stronger. It was the fourth gap in a row and the llth in the last 18 weeks. Four straight weeks without a M *2 earthquake has not occurred in the last ten years. • 0nly one quake measured as large as I,t 1.8 and all the rest registered M 1.4 or less.
