ing proposals, for the Exterior Painting of
Portola Jr. St. High School. Work will consist
of but may not be limited to minor repair and
refinishing of stucco and concrete, minor
repaar or replacement of wood trim and
painting of the facility according to distdct
supplied specifications using Kelly-Moore
painting products or equal. Contractor must
follow all manufacturers' specifications and
installation instructions. Contractor must
have all required lead abatement certifica-
tions required by the State of California for
public works projects and be licensed and
insured. All workers must be paid prevailing
wage for their trade as determined by the
California Department of Labor Relations.

Go-karts have
huge weekend
The go-kart kids have been
racing on race day all season
long, and Friday and Satur-
day, June 17 - 18, were no
exception. To make up for
their missed event cancelled
by the rain, American Valley
Speedway scheduled a double
header on the go-kart track.
All of the go-kart racers in
their mini versions of sprint
cars were able to race and
then head on over to the big
track with their families and
watch their favorite sprint
car drivers race.
Friday's race results were
as follows: In the box stock
class, Jackson Woods took
first place, followed by J.T.
Massey in second. Payton
Wicks, in her.first career firi-
ish, took third. In the outlaw
class, Dalton Wilcox took
first place, Jacob Dias took
second. Justin Wicks took
third, Katie Robertson took
fourth, Jackson Dias took
fifth and Antonio Maddalena,
filling in for Cody Callahan
in the No. 8 kart, took sixth
place.
Saturday was another busy
and fast day at the go-kart
track with over 11 go-karts
showing up for the races.
Most pit crews barely had
enough time to go through
the karts and change the en-
gine oil after staying past 11
p.m. to watch the sprint car
races Friday night. Neverthe-
less, all of the kids showed up
eager to race.
In the box stock class, J.T.
Massey posted his first career
main event first place,
followed by Jackson Woods
in second and Kyle Hitchcock
in third. The outlaw class
was so well-attended that
they had to run two sets of
heat races (splitting up the
seven-car field) to determine
the placement for the main
event.
In the end, it was
Dalton Wilcox in first, Justin
Wicks in second, Katie
Robertson in third, Jacob
Dias in fourth, Trey Walters
in fifth, Antonio Maddalena
in sixth and Jackson Dias in
seventh. Everyone was happy
to finish with enough time to
catch the Civil War Series on
the big track.
The next go-kart race is
scheduled for Saturday, July
9, at 4 pm. The audience can
support the young drivers
and then stick around for the
excitement on the big track
following the go-kart races.
