In California, every dairy
farmer has needed to invest
$1000 for each cow in his herd.
This includes the value of the
cow herself and the costs of the
farm lands which provide the
hay and grain for her mainte-
nance, the barns and milk house
and equipment. When that sum
is multiplied 1)y the numtler Of

Mabel Ridgway, of Hollywood,

...... her hobby that paid off nicely.
....... Mrs, Ridgway had typed her
own letters for some years, and
a banker asked her who was her
typist, as it was so neatly done,
::: and the result was that she re-
ceived an assigllment once a
month for special letters. Soon
she found that she received or-
ders for mimeographing, and be-

was in progres.. Today from this
home hobby, Mrs. Ridgway has
her own home and a thriving
btsiness .... Mrs. Madge Lacey
....... found that she could always lo-
cate people houses, apartments
and stores for rental, and soon
found herself allotting her en-

Portland, Oregon, found that she
could raise miniature pine trees
for rock gardens in her base-
meat, and now sells them all
