Plumas Unified School Dis-
trict has released the test re-
sults for the March 2011 Cali-
fornia High School Exit Exam
(CAHSEE). The state passage
rate is 74 percent in English-
language arts and 75 percent
in mathematics. PUSD's com-
prehensive high schools pas-
sage rate is 90 percent in Eng-
-lish-language arts and 93 per-
cent in mathematics.
The primary purpose of the
CAHSEE is to improve stu-
dent achievement in public
high schools and to ensure
that students who graduate
from public high schools can
demonstrate grade level com-
petency in reading, writing
and mathematics.
The CAHSEE helps identify
Students who are not develop-
ing skills that are essential
for life after high school and
encourages districts to give
these students the attention
and resources needed to help
them achieve these skills
during their high school
years.
In the nearby chart, all
PUSD high schools' CAH-
SEE results are reported. A
continuation high school is
intended for students who
are credit deficient and may
need additional time to
complete high school gradu-
ation requirements. Plumas
Charter is an alternative ed-
ucation high school based
upon an independent study
model.
