HOLD PICNIC AT LAKE ALMANOR (By Alice Shafer) The Juni,or Scholastic Society went on a picnic up at Almanor last Wednesday after school was let out in the afternoon. Mrs. Faller took the boys and girls up in the back of a pickup filled with hay. The honor students had a lot f fun but they did miss vVilma Wiley, who had a ease ,of scar- h.tina and Kenneth Hobbs who was also unable to attend the picnic. A good time was had by all swimming, playing games and roasting weiners. Those who at- tended the picnic were Mr. Price. advisor Mrs. Faller. the driver of he pickup, Ed Welsh. Kenneth 5',anders. In a game staged last Sunday, the "vVestwood baseball team de- feated Greenville by a score of 10 to 8. In the first half of the 7th inning, the score stood 7 to 0 in favor of Greenville, but after that something slipped, according to Manager "Peewee" Neer. Ned Jae.k of Oakland arrives on Sunday with his grand daughter, "'Candy" who will make her future home here with aunt and uncle lob and Marge Casteel. Cecil Mclntosh returned to work last week after anothher 6-weeks' sojourn at Vets Hospital in Rend. He says he is feeling fine and ex- pects to stay on the job awhile. Mr. and Mrs.George Zube and family have returned from Mar- tinez where they spent the winter months• He is again employed by Willard Larison. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Scally of Corpus Ch.risti. Texas, arrived on Monday for a 3 weeks visit with her mother. Fay Seymour, and sis- ter Frances Darlington Harry Riled. who has served as maintenance engineer at the local elementary school for several years is reported to have resigned that position to accept employment as watchman at the Calvada mill now under construction• Cathy Fry of Greenville is now employed as secretary to the For- est Service office at Greenville. Tires and fender aprons were taken last Thursday night from the Burton Motors used car 16t, and from the car of Dan Graves of the U. S. Forest Service. Local en- forcement offcers expect to appre- hend the culprits momentarily. The monthly Fellowship dinner of the Community Church will be held next Thursday at the church social hall. The general public is invited to attend, each family be- ing asked to furnish a hot dish and their om table service. Mrs. H. A. Van Fleet was a busi- ness vsitor in Rend on Thursday of last week• Bob Bolick has now moved t<) Medford, Ore. in has capacity as millwright.
