Six high school track
teams convened at Feather
River College Wednesday,
May 4, for a track and field
meet hosted by Quincy High
School.
The Quincy Trojans domi-
nated the varsity boys' com-
petition, winning nine of the
15 events and amassing 138
points. Williams, the second-
place team, finished with 62
points.
Portola took third place in
the girls' varsity division
and fourth place in the boys'
varsity division.
Varsity boys
Mason Kennedy won the
100 for Quincy with a time of
11.57, followed by teammate
Henry Dillingham in third
with a 12.07. Portola's Der-
rick Lema claimed fourth
with a 12.09.
Kennedy also won the 200
for Quincy with a 24:38.
Lema earned second for Por-
tola with a 25.01, and Quin-
cy's Jarrett Gibson took
third at 25.99.
In the 100 hurdles, Dilling-
ham won first for Quincy
with a 17.18. Portola's
Richard Sims took fourth
with a 19.81.
Ethan Skemp set a meet
record for Quincy in the 400
with a time of 53.48. Gibson
(56.03) came in second and
Sims (1:03.22) finished
fourth.
Josh Hanna set two meet
records for Quincy. In the
1600, Hanna turned in a time
of 4:54. In the 800, he was
clocked at 2:02.92. Gibson se-
cured fourth in the 800 with
a time of 2:27.05.
Dillingham captured a
meet record in the 300 hur-
dles with a 43.06.
In the 1600 relay, the team
of Kennedy, Dillingham,
Hanna and Skemp won first
place with a 3:53.26.
Lema won first place for
Portola in discus with a
throw of 128'3". Quincy's
Shawn Hughes took third
with a 103'10", and Portola's
Telia Pellet finished fourth
with a 91'9".
Lema also earned first
place in shot put with a
37'5.5" throw. Pellet came in
third at 32'5.5" and Hughes
secured fourth with a 30'4.5".
In the long jump, Kennedy
claimed second place for
Quincy with a distance of
17'8".
Ethan Skemp set a meet
record in the high jump by
clearing six feet.
Varsity girls
Portola's Hannah Melzer
won first place in high jump
by clearing 4'8", earned sec-
ond in the 400 with a 1:17.51,
and took second in the 300
hurdles at 57.65.
Vanessa Valle took third
for Portola in the 800 with a
3:09.68 and finished fourth in
the 1600 with a 7:23.35.
Portola's Shannon Tren-
chard earned third in the 300
hurdles with a 1:05.71. Team-
mate Mariah Le finished
fourth in the 100 hurdles at
21.60, and Tyler Bell took
fourth for Portola in long
jump at 12'3".

The Feather River College
softball team went on the
road and won two playoff
games against Solano
College last Saturday and
Sunday, May 7-8, by
scores of 8-4 and 10-9 in
extra innings. This ad-
vances the Golden Eagles
to the Super Regional
tournament this weekend
(see attached brackets).
