Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Y. Briggs,
new owners of Plumes Pines re-
sort were notified by the United
States Air Force that their son,
Richard C. Briggs was killed in
Japan on April 14th, when his
plane crashed. His widow, Mrs. l
Alice Briggs is at the resort with I
his parents for the summer. __]

dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Pete
Viacava last Wednesday evening.
Father J. J. Corcoran has re-
ceived word that his mother
passed away in San Francisco. He
gave a short service and left for
the bay city Sunday.
Mrs. Caroline Kingdon accom-
panied by Mrs. Louisa Kingdon
and Mrs. Sencie Knoll were Susan-
ville visitors last Monday.
Mary Sims and Corenne Sor-
soli went over to Reno Thursday
returning 'Friday morning.
John Gustafson, Newman Nel-
son and Charles Payton of Petal-
urea, annual fishermen came up
Friday night and visited Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Baker before going to
Lake Almanor.
John Davis' father has spent
the past few days visiting his
son and family. He plans to leave
for Reno for medical treatment.
A group of friends helped Pat
McClain celebrate her 7th birth-
day Sunday. Guests wer Pat and
Marilyn Sheehan, Kenny, Linda
and Mary Ann Tatro, Janice
Steen, Betty Jo Garrick, Harold
and Gerald Humphrey, Dennis
and Michael McLain. Mothers at-
tending were Ollie Garrick, Me-
die Humphrey, Frances Tatro.
