Spring hunts
The Department of Fish and
Game is now accepting appli-
cations for spring wild turkey
hunts in the North Central Re-
gion, and deadlines are ap-
proaching. These hunts are be-
ing offered at Spenceville,
Oroville, Daugherty Hill and
Gray Lodge wildlife areas. A
special hunt opportunity is al-
so available at the Cosumnes
River Preserve.
DFG will accept applica-
tions through April 5, but
hunters should check the
rolling deadlines. All appli-
cations must be received by 5
p.m. on the Tuesday at least
two weeks before the hunt
date. The application and de-
tails are nrm.dfg.ca.gov.

Drawings will be held im-

FRC baseball sweeps previously undefeated Butte College
The Feather River College
Golden Eagles used stellar
pitching and timely hittingto
sweep a Golden Valley Confer-
ence three game series from
rival Butte College over the
weekend.
The Roadrunners from
Butte came into the series
with a 15-0 start to their sea-
son but hadn't faced stiff com-
petition like the Golden Ea-
gles have up to this point in
the season. The Golden Eagles
won the first game of the
series at Butte College by a
score of 6-2. The two teams
then played Saturday's dou-
bleheader at the Eagles Nest
in Quincy and the Golden Ea-
gles won game one 12-1 and
they won game two by a score
of 13-7. With the sweep the
Golden Eagles are now 12-3
overall and 5-0 in conference
play.
On Friday at Butte, the
Golden Eagles scored three
runs in the third and three
runs in the ninth to beat the

Offensively, the Golden Ea-
gles were able to pound out 13
hits, but stranded 11 baserun-
nets in the game. Sophomore
Kyle Stone led the offensive
output with three hits and two
runs scored, and he drove in
one run. Fellow sophomores
Victor Mendoza, Casey Yocom
and Jaret Bogue also con-
tributed two hits each, as did
freshman Daniel Katayama.
On Saturday, the two teams
brought the rivalry to Quincy
and the Golden Eagles were
able to prevail with two victo-
ries on the day. In game one
the Golden Eagles were able to
score in five of their eight
innings to cruise to a 12-1
victory. Offensively, the Gold-
en Eagles pounded out 15 hits
and three of those were for
home runs. Sophomore Day-
ton Alexander led off the game
for Feather River with a home
run, as part of his two-hit per-
formance in game one, and fel-
low sophomores Patrick Ran-
dolph and Jaret Bogue also
added roundtrippers. Bogue's
home run came in the eighth
with the bases loaded to finish
off the scoring for the Golden
Eagles. Sophomore Kyle Stone
led the hit parade with four
hits in game one to go along
with his three runs scored.

was the pitching of freshman
Dae Yang Kim as he tossed

In game two, the Golden Ea-

offensive innings on their way
to winning a slugfest 13-7 over
the Roadrunners. Sophomore
Dayton Alexander led the way
offensively with his three hits,
three runs scored, two RBIs
and a solo home run. Sopho-
mores Kyle Stone and Casey
Yocom each added two hits
apiece, with Yocom also
adding two RBIs to his day. On
the mound freshman Andy
Amaro picked up the victory
in relief, as he went 3-2/3 in-
nings allowing five hits and
one run, while striking out
five to get his second win of
the season. The bullpen for the
Golden Eagles allowed one run
in 5-2/3 innings of work, as
sophomore :Cody Anderson
pitched a scoreless eighth and
freshman Andrew Millner
pitched a scoreless ninth to
finish off the sweep of the
previously undefeated Road-
runners.
Up next for the Golden Ea-
gles is a three-game Golden
Valley Conference series with
Shasta College in Redding.
The first game of the series
will be Friday, March 18, at 2
p.m. and the series will con-
clude with a doubleheader on
Saturday, March 19, at noon at
Shasta College.
