Shindig tickets
now on sale

An Asian inspired dinner
and a local talent show will
be among the highlights Sat-
urday, April 2, of the 2011
Shanghai Shindig.
The event is a fundraiser
for the Indian Valley Recre-
ation and Parks District, and
will be located in the dis-
trict's new community center
on Highway 89 in Greenville.
Tickets are $30 each and
are available at the center,
Evergreen Market and at
Sterling Sage.
Several performances are
already lined up, and more
acts are welcome.
Currently the list of per-
formers includes the Green-
ville Communit:€ Choir,
Indian Valley Academy Glee
Club and other individual
singers and performers.
Trophies will be awarded
to first, second and third
place, and all participants
will receive a membership
to the Indian Valley Commu-
nity Pool.
The winners will be chosen
by audience members who
will vote for their favorites
for $1 per vote for an un-
limited number of votes.
The act with the most votes
will win.
Dress rehearsal for all acts
is set for Wednesday, March
30, at 7 p.m.
There will als0 be
prizes given away to hzcky
ticket holders, includiing
four tickets to Disneyland,
two tickets to Turtle ]Bay
Aquarium in Redding and
other prizes.
Tickets are available at the
community center for a dona-
tion of $1 each or six for $5.
Proceeds from this event
will benefit the Recreation
Scholarship Fund, which was
created to ensure that all
people, regardless of their
ability to pay, would have
access to programs that
enrich lives and teach life-
long lessons.
Donations to this fund will
help a child learn to svim,
play on a team, practice life
skills or discover a new
talent.
M.C. for the evening will
be Justin Vital, and other
volunteers are needed to help
with setup, table and chair
moving, food serving and
other duties at the event.
Scholarship available
Again this year, the
Plumas County Bar Associa-
tion will be awarding a $1,000
scholarship to a graduating
high school senior in Plumas
County.
Preference will be given to
a student attending a four-
year college or university.
The legal community of
Plumas County, through
the Plumas County Bar Asso-
ciation, has been giving
scholarships since 2001. Last
year, the winner of the
scholarship was Alex Folchi
of Beckwourth, who is
now studying at Santa Clara
University.
To be eligible for the
award, the student will need
to write an essay and com-
plete an application form by
April 22.
