Helmeted snowmobile riders put safety first, and then enjoy
the fun of Winter SnowFest's poker run. The Bucks Lake Snow-
drifters will host a snowmobile play day this Saturday, March
12. For more information, maps, photos and a grooming report,

i Trains were covered in snow at the Western Pacific Railroad yard during the Winter SnowFest weekend. The Western Pacific Railroad
Museum is now conducting its Run-A-Locomotive Program, in which members of the public over 5 ~,ears old can learn how to drive a
train from certified engineers. Prices and more information are available at WPLives.org. The museum itself will re-open in April.

Sierra Nevada Dog Drivers helps provide dog sledding demonstrations and rides
Adults and children enjoy competing in the SnowFest snow-
man-building contest. More ideas for playing in the snow: build
a snow fort, a snow animal or an abstract snow sculpture.

Above, skiers tread carefully at Grizzly Creek Ranch. Another way to get around on top of all that
snow: snowshoeing! Lassen Volcanic National Park rangers will guide free public snowshoe excur-
sions every Saturday and Sunday through April 3. For those who don't have their own snow-
shoes, the park has pairs to lend for a $1 donation. Children over
8 are welcome. For more information, call the park at 595-4480.
Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) volunteer

Woller is one of several student volunteers from
Feather River College who assisted the Eastern
Plumas Chamber of Commerce with the
Winter SnowFest event.
Ken Smith, owner of Explore! Sierra Touring Company in Sierra
Valley, rides fresh snow. More information about ATV and
snowmobile rentals is available by calling him at 832-5450.
GiddyUp and Go is a full service horse drawn vehicle business in
Vinton which provided free rides around Grizzly Creek during
Winter SnowFest.
Snow Queen contestants Courtney Rich, Allison Molleson,
Kristina Mart, Marisha Hermann, Shannon Trenchard and
Kelsey Hell pose on snowmobiles. For more information about
