WITH THE EXPLORER SCOUTS
Explorer Post 23 of Greenville
had a mobilization test for the
Civil Defense program on Thurs-
day, Feb. 22 at 2:00 in the mor-
ning. The post got together in 25
minutes and met at the Forest
Service and then li.'Ied up to
Valley Lake and found
that there was quite a bit of
snow on the way up there. When
we got up there we had a weiner
roast and then came back home
and arrived at 7:00 in the mor-
ning.
The Exploers that were in this
mobilization test were Luis Sabo-
.la, Ed Welsh, Joe Madigan, Paul
'Bean. Jack Holt and their ad-
visor, Carl Scholberg. The post is
going to have a test mobilization
once a month.
The Explorers visited the Quin-
cy Explorer's Post and found that
our post was further along on
the Civil Defense than any Explor-
er Post in Plumas County. The
,Explorers that went on this trip
were Joe Madigan, Paul Bean
• ,uis SabGla, Jack Holt and the
advisor Carl Scholberg. Explorer
Post 23 helds their meetings every
Wednesday evening at 7:30 at the
Forest Service Station.
Judge and Mrs. Moncur plan to
leave Quincy very shortly for Sac-
ramento where they will make
their home.

A. G. Cole, for the past 18 years
a Forest Service Auto Mechanic
assigned to the Plumas National
Forest Headquarters Shop, has
announced his retirement from
Government service effective Feb-
ruary 28.
Born in Oakland, Cole's early
education was gined in bay area
schools with later technical train-
ing at the California School of
Mechanical Arts in Oakland. Cole
owned and operated a garage busi-
ness in Hayward, California, for
a period of 15 years, and came
to Plumas County during the early
depression years to prospect for
gold.
Mr. Cole, who lives near Karl-
die, will be remembered in this
area as having been connected for
a time with Ellis Motors.
