Plumas Arts Gallery hosts inspirational show in March
Plumes Arts welcomes a
host of local artists to the
March show at the Plumas
Arts Gallery, "Mountain,
Meadow, Muse: an explo-
ration of inspiration." A call
went out in February for
artists to enter works for ex-
hibition centered around the
ideas that move people to
create art.
"We just really wanted to
have a show that would en-
tice people who may not
have thought of showing
their work before, as well as
showcasing the phenomenal
talents of our more well-
known artists," says gallery
director Lori Davis. "The re-
sponse to our invitation has
been great, and we are look-
ing forward to an exciting
show with all kinds of work,
ranging from watercolors
and photography to bead-
work and handmade furni-
ture."
The opening reception
will be Friday, March 4,
from 5 7 p.m. at the Plumas
Arts Gallery at 372 Main St.
in Quincy. Lots of goodies
will be provided as well as
ffeverages. "If you haven't
had a chance to see what's
happening at the gallery, the
opening reception is a great
time to stop by and enjoy
our community while you
look at the fantastic exhibi-
tion," adds Davis.
The Plumas Arts Gallery
is a project of Plumas Arts.
Regular business hours are
Wednesday through Friday,
from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The
Mountain, Meadow, Muse
show hangs all month. For
more information call 283-

Fifth annual Taste of Plumas
event tickets now on sale
Organizers are recom-
mending that folks buy their
tickets early for the fifth an-
nual Taste of Plumes, sched-
uled for Saturday, April 9, at
the Plumas-Sierra County
Fairgrounds fn Quincy.
The culinary extravagan-
za, a major fundraiser for
Plumas Arts, is one of the
most anticipated events of
the season -- and it has sold
out every year. Annual rave
reviews build the returning
crowd.
Organizers suggest pa-
trons purchase their tickets
before April 1 because the
event is expected to sell out
once again this year. This al-
so gives the restaurants and
event organizers enough
time to plan.
Organizing staff reports
that there are more restau-
rants and wineries partici-
pating, this year than ever
before. Also worth noting,
despite the economic times
the admission price remains
at the 2007 and 2008 levels.
General admission is $35 and
includes one souvenir wine
glass and the opportunity to
savor samples from more
than 20 restaurants and culi-
nary businesses.
Plumes Arts members pay
a discounted presale admis-
sion qf $30. Folks can take
this opportunity to become a
member with their benefit
ticket purchase and com-
mence their support and sav-
ings with this initial invest-
ment.
Tickets are available at the
Plumas Arts Gallery at 372
Main St. in Quincy, online
by credit card at
plumasarts.org/shop or by
calling Plumas Arts at 283-
3402.
"This is such a wonderful
event. It is a joy to pull it all
together. We are really
pleased at how many great
restaurants and food and
wine businesses come back
to us each year. We are also
happy to note that we will
have new establishments
with us this year," com-
ments Roxanne Valladao, ex-
ecutive director of Plumas
Arts. "We have a full line-up
but as of today there are a
few spaces left for restau-
rants who might still want to
join us. Just give a call to
Plumas Arts at 283-3402.
"The beautiful part is this
is very much a win-win-win
situation for all who partici-
pate. The culinary artists
win because we inspire them
to present themselves and
showcase some of their best
work to a very interested
audience: The public wins
an opportunity to be the ben-
eficiary of such creative
endeavors and meet the
artists who rarely have the
opportunity to leave their
kitchens. We know that
many attendees use this
event to create a wish list of
where to go out for great
meals in all parts of county.
Plumes Arts wins by cele-
brating culinary artists and
presenting them to a very in-
terested clientele while en-
joying a most necessary and
appreciated financial boost."
Plumes Arts is the region's
most active cultural pro-
gramming organization.
Plumes Arts brings art pro-
grams to county schools;
events and performances to
local audiences; coordinates
a regional cultural events
calendaring system in print
and online at
plumasarts.org; works col-
laboratively with numerous
organizations and groups;
hosts Words & Music and a
gallery of regional artists as
well as manages the Town
Hall Theatre.
"The Taste" also includes
samples from numerous
wineries and microbrew
beers from around the North
State and beyond: Another
great part of the event is a
silent auction with a festive
selection of services and ad-
ventures, fine art and
unique items.
