Law and Order policy
Information that appears in
this column is compiled from
the Plumas County Sheriff's
Office activity log, the county
correctional center's booking
log and California Highway
Patrol press releases. The Sher-
iff's Blotter shows initial
charges. In some instances the
charges may change after the
dispatch report. We do not
report suspects' names in
arrests for public intoxication
or drunken driving unless ac-
companied by another serious
charge, such as probation viola-
tion, a vehicle accident or
another felony. The fact that
someone has been arrested
and charged with a crime does
not constitute guilt. The case
may never appear in court if
the district attorney determines
there is insufficient evidence
to prosecute. The fact that
someone was involved in an I
automobile collision does not
constitute liability or fault.
Minors are named as legal-age
drivers at 16, unless they are
charged with a crime in con-
junction with an incident. The
CHP determines whether
injuries are characterized as
m nor, moderate or fatal.
