Snowshoers are asked to please stay off the cross-country ski trails due to safety concerns. Eagle Lake Ranger Dis- trict: Our Swain Trail System holdsthe most snow. The cold temperatures of January have maintained our snow- pack. On the Swain trails, there are no exposed dirt patches, but some icy stretch- es. When the afternoon sun- shine warms, the snow condi- tions become spring-like. We have been impressed with the amount of trail use this sys- tem is receiving. Kudos to all of you who have come out to enjoy the freshness of the sea- son. Fredonyer Trail System is sketchy. There are dirt patch- es along the 29N86, 29N05 and the 29N86 roads. Exposed rocks and long dirt sections make it impossible to travel this route. Bogard trails continue to hold on to the minimal snow- pack. There are some ex- posed areas across the Pine Creek Valley. The snow- play/hill-climbs "on the north slope of Antelope Mountain have exposed manzanita shoots poking through the crust. Use caution when rid- ing these trails! Hat Creek Ranger District: Hat Creek trails are in fair shape this week. Trails are icy in the morning and soft in the afternoon. There are sev- eral washouts on the Latour system. Most areas are signed, but please be cautious of running water. ' The warmer temperatures are affecting lower Asphan. The Greyback area has a bit more snow due to less traffic and more shade. To conserve the snow, please avoid ' burnouts and cutting turns. Care for your trails and think snow! Lea2ue victory The Chester boys' basketball team posted an 87-68 , league win against Maxwell last Thursday. C01e Fanning scored 22 points. With the change in the economy (specifically, fewer new housing starts), my business partner (and son) Donavon and I knew we had to change our business model. We're not going anywhere, and • we still build new homes, garages and commercial buildings. So, in the past year we found there was a real need to assist homeowners in making their existing homes more efficient, attractive and valuable.
