One Hundred and Seventy Eight
PUSD students seek
: Business and Finance
College Credit Options!
In May 2008, our school board approved our first CTE graduation requirement,
Business and Finance. There are six content areas within the curriculum identified as
Posters, Paper, Portfolio, Project, Presentation and Personal Finance. The prior year,
Plumas County Office of Education worked with Feather River College staff to create
an articulation agreement.
The agreement allows interested students the opportunity to take the Personal
Finance exam at FRC. The student who passes the exam with a C or better earns the
opportunity tO purchase the three elective units for $20, giving them a college transcript
before graduating from high school. This year the expectation is that all our high school
seniors will take the exam at FRC. '
One hundred and seventy eight students from PUSD will travel to the college the
morning of February 2, 2011, take the exam, tour facilities, and be provided lunch before
departing. The Business and Finance teachers will remain at FRC until all tests are
graded, returning to their sites with student test scores.
On behalf of all Plumas Unified School District, we applaud the effOrts of Feather
River College, our community mentors and business partners, who have contributed
their time to this endeavor. We congratulate our site teachers for all their assistance
and donation of extra time to make this day happen for our students. Lastly, we wish
our graduates success as they study diligently for the exam early next month!
Sincerely,
Glenn R. Harris, Superintendent PUSD-PCOE
