Rev. and Mrs. Darrell Kenney

their home in Greenville after en-
Joying a couple of weeks vacation
in the State of Utah.
R. W. Lightfoot and Tom Ter-
wiltiger of Willits, the father and
nephew, respectively, of Jane Us-
meyer, were visitors at the George
Osmeyer home last week. making
an early return to their own home
to avoid being snowed in, and m-
stead becoming involved in the
overflow of the Russian River.
Mr.a nd Mrs. Paul Bush, accom-
panied by Mr. and Mrs. Bud Strong
of Crescent Mills, w-ere visitors
with the Guy Outlands near Mo-
desto and the P, A. McLaughlins
at Lodi last week-end. They report
that the Outlands. with two ranch-
es and a drug store, are both well
and busy.
Jess Bush. who was operated on
for appendicitis last week at the
P, atson Hospital, is reported to be
getting along nicely and expects
to return home this week end,

Plans for a snow camp to be
held at Round Valley Lake on Sat-
urday, Feb. 10, were completed at
the regular meeting of Troop 23
on Tuesday night, when 12 mem-
bers of the troop were present, to-
gether With Scoutmasters Harry
\\;Vels hand Joe Hayes. A demon-
stration of Spanish Windlass knot
tying was among the activities of
the evefing.

Dined the ranks of the benedicts
last Saturday when they took the
Morrow sisters (Helen and Nancy
respectively) to RenD, and were
married there by the Rev. Brews-
ter Adams.
The two brdes are from Quincy,
and for the time being the young
couples will make their home in 1
Crescent Mills.

UPSET LASSEN TEAMS
IN GAMES FRIDAY

The Greenville Indians A and B
squads will play the W'estwood A
and B basketball teams tomorrow
night tFriday) at the Greenville
hiKh school gym. and urge all lo-
cal fans to attend, giving assur-
ance that this will be a close con-
test in all probability.
Last Friday night the two ag-
gregations played Lassen High,
the game being an upset.
The Indians B team started out
with the first two ponits, and at
the half were in the lead 18-8.
This they added to point by point
tlroughout the remainder of the
rame. eancluding with a score of
37-30 at the final whistle.
The A team didn't get off to
such a good start, ending the half
with a score of 16 to 20 in favor
of Lassen. but following a good
pep talk from Coach Stan Timone.
the Indian A's started fighting
back and ended the battle with a
tally of 41 to 37.
High point men on the B team
were Ronnie Logan and Jim Myers
each with 12 points, while Harold
Myers took A-team honors with
15 points to his credit.

MEET AT WESTWOOD
ON SUNDAY LAST
George Kline, Dick Calais. Dale
Hannah and Ben Stone attended
the meeting of the Third District,
American Legion, held at West-
wood last Sunday. Calais is dis-
trict commander this year. and
Hannah served as adjutant in the
bsenee of Ed Spellmeyer, who has
been going around with his right
hand in a cast for several days.

reported to be sparse due to bad
road and weather conditions.

COMPLETES CLEANING UP
OF FIRE HAZARD
Members of the Greenville Vol-
unteer fire department have this
week completed the self-appointed
task of clearing out the dead trees
which have constituted a serious
fire hazard oo the hills west and
northwest of town.
Some 80 dead trees were cut
down and removed, it was stated,
and the result is a cleaner bill of
health for the department and the
community.
The local firemen are to be com-
mended for their constant activi-
ties in the field of civic service.

Miss Johanne ralker and Mr.
Nile Pearce were quietly married
in Phoenix. Arizona on December
30th. it was learned at an an-
nouncement party given here last
week.
Miss vValker is home economics
instructor at the Greenville High
School. and Mr. Poarce is a cattle-
man from Chico. The couple n-
tc to make thor home in Green-
ville, where she will contnue her
present activities and he wilI be
enraeed in ranching in the valley.
The news was made public at
a party given by Miss Marsha
t?eterson a:'.d Miss Walker at the
latter's apartment at the Hide-
away Lodge, and attended by the
entire high school faculty.
