They are the sur- vivors of workers who died b- tween June 1940 and September 1950--before they had worked long enough under social secur- ity to become insured. The 200,000 surviving widows and children could not be paid benefits under the law as it then stood. But they can now, if the worker, before his death, had been under social security for as little as a year and a half. If you know someone--an aged widow, a younger widow with children under 18. who might qualify for these benefits. tell her to get in touch with the nearest social security office at 40 Ryland St., Reno. or meet a representative from, the office' at the Justice Court in Green- ville Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 2 to5 p.m. BELDEN POND FISH TO BE F CTOR IN DERMINING VALUE OF NATIVE TROUT Fishermen Associated and its - president, Mrs. Dolores Kelton, Canyon Dam deserve much praise from the citizens of the county and fishermen in gem eral for their efforts in restock- ing he streams, stated Bob Mont- gomery, regional director of the Dept. of Fish & Game. After 8 years of persistent effort they brought about agreement with the Fish and Game Department to mark 12,500 fish of the 75,- 000 fingerlings planted in the County Oct. 3 The. 12,500 fish were marked bv the removal of fins. Mr. and Mrs. Capps of Tobin,. Bud Gid- dis and a friend. Bill Carter, Dolores Kolton and five mem- bers of the Department of Fish and Game did the clipping. 7,500 fingerlings had their left ventral and adipose fins re- moved and were planted in the North Fork of the Feather Riv- er. Five thousand fingerlings had both ventral fins clipped and were planted in Spanish Creek. The marking is an experiment in an effort to see if the fin- gerlings planted in the fall will survive the winter and provide better catchables for the coning season than the catchabls that were planted this past fishing season. A total of 75,000 fish were planted Oct. 3. Other plants will be Spanish Creek, Indian Creek, North Fork of the Feather River and Mill Creek. Persons catching marked fish are asked to report their catch to Fishermen Associated, any Sporting 'Goods store, Chamber of Commerce office, or the Fish and Game Warden, who will be happy to take the report and forward it to the proper persor Reporting of marked fish is very important, so that Fisher- men Associated Inc. and the I) partment of Fish and Game can deternine the success of the experiment. w ....
