She's a winneH
Annie Folchi, a third-grader in
Ms. Ross' class at C. Roy
Carmichael Elementary
School, won the ballot art
contest for the June primary
sample ballot and voter's
guide. The Plumas County
Clerk-Recorder's Election
Division received 10 entries
from Plumas County's primary
students. Courthouse visitors
and personnel, voting by
secret ballot, tapped Folchi for
the early win this election
year. Folchi said her drawing
represents her idea that we
should all "come together and
just get along." From left:

Sample ballot info corrected
The Plumas County
Elections Office announced
late last week that some in-
formation was incorrectly
printed in the Voter Informa-
tion Guide and Sample
Ballot pamphlet mailed
recently.
Voters passed Proposition
34 Expenditure Limitations:
State Legislative Candidates,
in November 2000.
The law requires county
election officials to provide
the names of those state
legislative candidates who
have voluntarily agreed to
expenditure limits.
Candidates who agree to
the expenditure limits may
submit and pay for a Can-
didate's Statement of Qualifi-
cations to be printed in this
pamphlet.
This information was in-
correctly printed in the Voter
Information Guide and Sam-
ple Ballot pamphlet and in-
cluded party endorsements
and not just the candidate's
political party.
The following state legisla-
tive candidates, listed in
alphabetical order with their
political parties, have accepted
the voluntary expenditure
limitations pursuant to Propo-
sition 34:
1st Senate District
Bogdan I. Ambrozewicz, no
party preference
Les Baugh, Republican
Julie Griffith-Flatter, Democ-
ratic
1st Assembly District
Rick A. Bosetti, Republican
Brian Dwain Dahle, Republi-
can
David A. Edwards, Green
Charles L. Hooper, Libertarian
Robert Anthony Meacher,
Democratic

POEM
OF THE
WEEK
American Life in Poetry
Ted Kooser, U.S. Poet Laureate
We've published a number of engaging poems about parenthood in this column, and we keep
finding more. Here's Wendy Videlock, who lives in Colorado, taking a look into a child's room.
Disarmed
I should be diligent and firm,
I know I should, and frowning, too;
again you've failed to clean your room.
Not only that, the evidence
of midnight theft is in your bed--
cracked peanut shells and m&m's
are crumbled where you rest your head,
and just above, the windowsill
is crowded with a green giraffe
(who's peering through your telescope),
some dominoes, and half a glass
of orange juice. You hungry child,
how could I be uncharmed by this,
your secret world, your happy mess?
